Deep in the howling wastes of a snowbound realm walks a woman known only as Mrs Claws. Rumoured to carry gifts of ice and fury, her legend drifts from tavern to tavern on the edge of civilization. Where she walks, the wind chills to the bone and magic stirs beneath the snow. The warriors of the north whisper of her approach with a mix of awe and dread – her crimson armour is blood, her blue aura is curse. Not all who celebrate the season do so with cheer.
🎨 Artist Notes
This bust was painted for a Secret Santa gift exchange and was a joy to create, even with the pressure of a holiday deadline. I leaned heavily into the idea of duality – festive warmth clashing with arctic magic. The cold light OSL was key to pulling that off, making her feel like she was lit by frostbitten moonlight. Everything, even the reds, were cooled and tempered to enhance the theme. She took the long way through customs, but hearing how happy her recipient was made it all worthwhile.
